A native of Atlanta, I have seen the many changes of the city over the years and the changes that continue to occur. After spending years in the insurance industry, my wife Sylvia and I moved back to the Atlanta neighborhood that had been such a part of my life growing up, East Lake. We live in the 2nd oldest house in Atlanta, Meadow Nook, built in 1856, and have enjoyed participating in the revitalization of the East Lake neighborhood. I grew up swimming, playing golf, and watching Bobby Jones at the East Lake Golf Club. I became a pretty good amateur golfer myself, and was fortunate to play in the Masters twice, as well as many other tournaments. I graduated from Marist High School in Atlanta, and Georgia Tech. Sylvia and I have renovated over 25 houses in East Lake, including our own, and continue to help retain the old homes that are so much a part of East Lake's history. One of the things I am most proud of is helping to create the East Lake Foundation's East Lake Junior Golf Academy, now known as The First Tee of East Lake. I still volunteer as an instructor for the kids in the program. |
